Data Analysis Training with EVIEWS
Training Overview
On March 16, 2024, the Center for Research and Development (CRD) organized a hands-on training session on EVIEWS, a widely used statistical package for time series analysis. The objective of the training was to provide participants with practical skills in sourcing, importing, and analyzing data using EVIEWS — with a focus on real-world applications in research and policy.
The Training Covered
- Introduction to EVIEWS and its applications in time series analysis.
- Exploring common data sources such as the World Bank, FAO, and OIC.
- Importing datasets from external sources into EVIEWS.
- Performing data analysis and visualization with EVIEWS.
- Applying statistical techniques and models for time series analysis.
- Interpretation and reporting of results.
Participants
The training attracted over 70 participants from diverse academic and professional backgrounds. Attendees brought varying levels of experience in statistical analysis, which made the session both interactive and inclusive.
Key Highlights
- Practical learning: The session emphasized real-world data analysis with EVIEWS.
- Expert facilitation: The training was conducted by Bile Yusuf, whose expertise ensured clarity and impact.
- Active engagement: Participants engaged in exercises that strengthened their confidence in applying EVIEWS to their own work.
Conclusion
The EVIEWS training session proved to be a valuable capacity-building opportunity. By equipping participants with practical skills in time series data analysis, visualization, and interpretation, the training supported CRD’s mission of enhancing research excellence at SIMAD University.
This initiative is part of CRD’s ongoing commitment to empowering researchers and students through targeted training programs that strengthen both technical expertise and institutional research capacity.
